First Church in Lincoln (Orthodox Congregational) established in 1747; two factions by ca. 1800: Orthodox (Congregationalists) and more liberal Unitarians; split into two separate churches 1841; discussions regarding the re-merging of the two churches began in the 1920s; formally federated as First Parish in Lincoln in 1942.
